From Br Steve fsc
Greetings,
This week we recognise three significant religious days in the calendar: Ascension Thursday; Eid, the end of the Holy Month of Ramadan; and the anniversary of the canonization of St John Baptist de La Salle, Patron Saint of all teachers, in 1950.
I think all three events in some way have the same message – taking stock of our situation and changing the way we must be present to others. Each event calls each of us to do our bit, seeking to be honest and loving in our actions with others, and doing so knowing that these are not just random actions but made into a united endeavour (Thomas O’Loughlin, La Croix International, Wednesday 12th May 2021).
This year we have chosen Think-Give-Get RESPECT as our theme. Respect is one of the core principles that St John Baptist de La Salle left us as a legacy for Lasallian schools. He knew that respect for each other with our differences and peculiar habits and traits is fundamental for all human existence to thrive.
We are called, just as De La Salle was called, as the disciples were called, as the Islamic community are called throughout Ramadan, to be people of respect, compassion, and kindness to others - an influencer; a way maker; miracle worker; a light that makes a difference – these are also the marks of a Lasallian.
Think-Give-Get RESPECT
