Basketball continues to grow each year, with the College experiencing success across many age groups each season. Students at Ã山ǿ¼é have the opportunity to play basketball either in the Summer ISA competition (this is the Ã山ǿ¼é school competition) or the Hills District local competition (usually held on a weekday afternoon/evening) at the Hills Basketball Stadium. Most students play in the school-based ISA competition in Terms 4 and 1. Ã山ǿ¼é teams in the Hills competition are usually based on friendship groups and this is run by Hills Basketball.
Ã山ǿ¼é students compete in the ISA competition and have had outstanding results across all grades in recent years. Apart from the ISA success, Ã山ǿ¼é 1sts won the National Title and were crowned the number one school’s team in Australia. Interestingly, two members of the 2004 National winning team have furthered their basketball career, Julian Khazzouh and Andrew (AJ) Ogilvy, both having successful careers in basketball. Since this success, we have won many ISA titles and an impressive number of students have been selected in representative sides.
Home basketball games are played at Ã山ǿ¼é and away games played at a number of schools across the Sydney Metropolitan area and surrounds. ISA home games are played on one of three courts at the College. The Centenary Sports Centre has two courts and there is one court in Benildus Hall.
All ISA players are supported by a dynamic committee, in which all parents are encouraged to join. The committee comprises of parents, ex students and friends. All interested students are encouraged to represent Ã山ǿ¼é, either in the year-round local competition or the ISA competition.
